Alice Mae Holland, peacefully transitioned to her eternal home on October 12, 2026 in Roanoke, VA. She was born in Bedford, VA on February 14, 1946, to the late Alice Davis Robertson. In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by husband James Holland, brother, William (Bill) Davis, sister Rosa Robertson.

Alice was also raised by her grandparents, Hileary and Callie Davis. Their care was an important part of her early life and remained a lasting part of her story.

Alice graduated from Susie Gibson High School in Bedford, VA. She was employed by Bedford County Public Schools for over 30 years. She enjoyed traveling with her husband, shopping and eating. Alice loved watching Westerns which she spent a portion of her days enjoying.

Those left to cherish her memories are her children, Alesia Sharpe, Gilbert (Katie) Sharpe, Christopher Sharpe, and Michele Robertson, whom she raised as a daughter. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Rajan Sharpe, Tanner Sharpe, London Sharpe, and Jordan Yetter.

In addition to her children and grandchildren, Alice is remembered by her siblings, Andrew (Elaine) Robertson, Davis Lee Robertson, Robert Robertson, George (Pearl) Robertson, Thomas (Annette) Robertson, Alvin Robertson, Thelma Robertson, Donald Robertson, and Mary Thomas: along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends.

She will be remembered by special friends Helen Williams, Madge Williams, Shirley Mosby, Peggy Thompson, Judy Brogdon, Bruce Sharpe, Steve Sharpe, and Darnell Sharpe, along with devoted friends Karen Overstreet, Ann Robertson, Paulette Holland, Carol Davis and Blanche Harris.

Alice memory remains with the many family members, friends, and others whose lives were connected with hers. She will be remembered by those who knew her and loved her.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 17, 2026 at Tharp Funeral Chapel, Bedford. The family will receive friends from on Friday, October 16, 2026 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Tharp Funeral Home, Bedford.

Fallen Limb

A limb has fallen from the family tree. I keep hearing a voice that says, “Grieve not for me”. Remember the best times, the laughter, the song. The good life I lived while I was strong. Continue my heritage, I’m counting on you. Keep smiling and surely the sun will shine through. My mind is at ease, my soul is at rest. Remembering all, how I truly was blessed. Continue traditions, no matter how small. Go on with your life, don’t worry about falls I miss you all dearly, so keep up your chin. Until the day comes we’re together again.
