Melissa Jean Wilcox is a native of Romney, WV, and Nelson County. She currently resides in Appomattox. Melissa is a 1998 graduate of Nelson County High School and is a 2002 Magna Cum Laude graduate of the Funeral Service Program at John Tyler Community College.

She completed her apprenticeship in May 2000 in Lovingston and has been with Tharp Funeral Home since July 2000. She is a member of Appomattox Junior Women.s Club, Piedmont Homemakers Club, Mended Hearts, and is a graduate of Leadership Lynchburg.

Melissa enjoys gardening and spending time with her husband, Jeff, along with other family and friends.
