Services
At our family-owned funeral homes, we are committed to providing you
and your family with an unparalleled level of service and attention
to detail. We will listen to you and assist you in creating exactly
the services that you desire.
Our emphasis is on personalizing the funeral service so that it reflects
the uniqueness and individuality of the deceased. Each person, each
life, and each family reflects its own characteristics and we want to
help you celebrate and share those qualities with friends and relatives.
In addition to our highly personalized service, we consistently go
the extra mile for our families by providing little extras such as a
free video or audio tape of the funeral service using state-of-the-art
equipment. At Tharp Funeral Home & Crematory, we believe
in choices, flexibility, and in exceeding expectations.

A Special Tribute to Our Veterans
As Veterans Day approached, Tharp Funeral Home & Crematory
wanted to do something meaningful to illustrate our commitment to
the veterans of our community. We talked to a number of veterans and
asked them what they would appreciate. The result of our conversations
is the SPECIAL TRIBUTE described below.
"Tharp Funeral Home & Crematory is a locally owned
family business that began when Glenn Tharp entered funeral service
in 1933. He assisted families in the Bedford area continuously for
63 years, except for the time that he served in General George S.
Pattons 3rd Army during World War II. Glenn Tharp received the
Silver Star and Purple Heart, and we, as a family, grew up understanding
the supreme importance of the sacrifices that were made by our veterans.
The Veterans with whom we spoke described the frustration that they felt about the cuts that had been made into their veterans benefits.
Specifically, they were upset by the removal of the $300 burial allowance
that, for so many years, had been a part of every veterans benefit
package.
After hearing these concerns, we at Tharp Funeral Home & Crematory wanted to give back to our veterans this benefit that was so
rightfully earned and deserved. As a special tribute, we offer a $300 memorial package to all veterans. Please ask us about this important memorial that will help commemorate your veterans service in the most important manner.
The family of Tharp Funeral Home & Crematory is offering
this tribute as our way of saying Thank You for your valor,
honor and sacrifice. We will not forget what your call to duty has
meant to the freedom that all of us enjoy today."
