Juanita "Nan" Fallen

Juanita “Nan” Fallen, beloved mother and grandmother, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, September 1, 2010.  She passed peacefully at her home with her family surrounding her.

She was born August 30, 1921 in Lynchburg, VA, the daughter of the late Hubert C. and Blanche W. Woodford.  Mrs. Fallen dedicated her life to the care of her family and enjoyed spending time gardening, sewing, and attending her circle group activities at Heritage United Methodist Church, where she was a long-time member.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of forty years, Walter P. Fallen, and her son Ronald W. Frye.  Mrs.Fallen was also preceded in death by her first husband, Roy L. Frye.

She leaves with loving memories one devoted daughter, Beverly F. Mann and her husband, Larry.  Mrs. Fallen cherished the time spent with her granddaughters Tammy M. Parlier; Wendy M. Snow and her husband, Jeffrey; and Tracy F. Pappalardo and her husband, Russell.   She was loved by her great-grandchildren  including  David W. Parlier, Jacob H. Snow, Matthew P. Parlier, Katherine G. Snow, Michael C. Parlier, and Anthony J. Pappalardo.  In addition, a host of extended family members and friends join in the celebration of her life.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 4, 2010, at Heritage United Methodist Church with the Reverend Riley Smith and Reverend Louis Beckwith officiating.   The family will receive friends on Friday, September 3, 2010, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Tharp Funeral Home as well as other times at Mrs. Fallen’s residence in Forest.  Interment will be at Fort Hill Memorial Park.

The family would like to thank Dr. Richard Stowers and his staff for providing loving, compassionate care to Mrs. Fallen for many years.    We would also like to offer our sincere gratitude to the staff of Centra Hospice for their devotion to our family during the past few weeks.
